The taxi took us to a suburb of Amsterdam;
we alighted and I promptly paid the fare.
‘You better go back now’, she warned me,
‘at midnight, around here, the cabs are rare.’
But it would have been cruel to let her go
after her near-orgasm on the back seat:
her muted moans of pleasure were such
that they promised a more rewarding treat.
The lights were still on, in the top floor flat.
‘My mum’, she said with sadness on her face.
So in the hazy glow of a three-quarter moon,
a lamp post bore the weight of our embrace.
We clung to each other, fumbling in the night,
careful to stifle any cry, lowering our voice.
We gave way to our emotions with passion
knowing vertical coition was the only choice.
We said our goodbyes, now friends for ever
although we had just met that very day.
After exchanging phone numbers we parted.
Whether it was true love I could not say.
She didn’t return my calls so we lost touch.
I was a one-night stand and she didn’t care.
But in one respect she had told the truth:
I walked all the way to Rembrandt Square.

This reminded me of 'many moons ago' when my husband took me on a guided tour of the red-light district in Amsterdam. He was on business there, and I'd joined him for a long weekend. Needless to say he had already 'checked it out' as they say. It was quite an eye-opener and an experience I never forgot. Nor did he;-)
Very much enjoyed your 'romp', Luigi - written in true 'Luigi style';-)

Dear Tina, I bet that it was quite an eye opener for you. I never visited the red district but on my first visit to Amsterdam I and two friends were taken by our Dutch girlfriends to a strip club.
As for the 'romp' many a true words are spoken in jest and...I'll say no more.

You have further encouraged my desire to see Amsterdam in the near future.
Very much enjoyed this as always with your work.

Chuck grazie, much obliged. Not 'mutevoli' anymore, it has transferred into the 'Cherry Ripe' category.
chuck | May 5, 2010 - 17:48
Tutti frutti then.
luigi_pagano | May 5, 2010 - 17:55
Very good, Chuck, I like it.

Just popped back to say I was really pleased to see this one get a cherry. More than richly deserved, Luigi. Most certainly 'tutti frutti' as Chuck remarks;-)

Just a 'quickie' to thank you, Tina. If I don't write it now I shall forget because I am away for the weekend.

- love these lines, Luigi! And that ending is wonderful. Well done on the cherry ;)

love the ending, a night of passion told with carefully chosen details. As a Dutch person, I feel honoured that Amsterdam provided such a night for you :)

Mark, Amsterdam is certainly worth a visit. The beer is good, museums are excellent and the girls are beautiful.
luigi_pagano | May 10, 2010 - 17:25
Rebecca, we always see eye to eye regarding poetry.
I was certain that you'd pick those lines.
A cherry is always welcome and my thanks go to the 'cherry picker'.

maggy, I have always had a soft spot for Holland and Amsterdam in particular. It is a city which makes me feel energised. I never cease to be enthralled by its magic atmosphere and by its people who have welcomed me so warmly many times.

Ah, now I do remember this one! Great stuff, although I fear you would not recognise the Amsterdam you knew then. It's changed, and not for the better, either.
I say, Luigi, you do have a prodigious and impressive number of cherries, old bean!

In my days Amsterdam was a fun city. What a shame if it has deteriorated.
I am afraid that they are old cherries for an old bean. The last one was in June.
