Chalk And Cheese -(I.P.)

Argumentative and arrogant he may be
But bellicose most definitely he is not .
Chalk and cheese we are, Carlo and me.
Determined to improve, I read a lot.
Erudition looms large in my background.
For him physical activity is paramount;
Girls most of all: he likes to play around.
His conquests are so many, he lost count.
I think that he is insensitive and uncaring
Judging by his conduct, casual and reckless.
Knowing his attitude can be overbearing,
Lessons in common sense would be useless.
My own behaviour may also be deficient,
No man can claim to be without reproach.
Others who say that they’re self-sufficient
Perhaps are following a positive approach.
Quite how I can attain such confidence
Remains a challenging task in front of me;
Self-doubt is what ails me, not indifference.
To emulate my old friend could be the key.
Unwilling to take risks, I was held back,
Vitality has gone to hell and damnation;
What I did not possess was Carlo’s knack.
X-rated movies, he says, are my salvation.
Yet I can’t reconcile my principles to his:
Zealot that I am, I think it is a swizz.
