Quote, Unquote

I must make a permanent note
of this rather remarkable quote:
“Follow love and it will flee,
flee love and it will follow thee.”
Perhaps it will help to improve
my chances and decidedly prove
that I am not an ass nor a fool
but a man who is wise and cool.
Whenever I make a proposal
I am met with an instant refusal;
the moment I drop to my knees
the object of my passion flees.
But now my tactics will change
although they’ll seem a bit strange.
I’ll pretend to be single and gay
and women will flock my way
but I'll refuse, with no feeling of guilt,
any male who is wearing a kilt.
