Crocodile tears

from the ABC set Cherry ripe

They threw confetti
outside the church
with joyful cries
to wish us well.

And as they stood
by the front porch
they cheered, they waved
and bade farewell.

I loved her madly,
carried a torch
for my beloved
who cast a spell.

She's left me now,
truly in the lurch,
but the Press pay me
to kiss-and-tell.
