I scoured the A to Z trying to find
the house where the Muse is kept
and discovered that it was behind
the old Victorian Baths, to the left.
I had expected a grand residence
and not a tumbledown maisonette.
I approached it with some diffidence
wondering what welcome I'd get.
I admit that the place wasn't great
and didn't look fit enough to be let
but even with the house in such a state
one has to follow the proper etiquette.
I was not summoned to her presence
because I had not given prior notice.
It was due to my own incompetence
that I was made to look like a novice.
One must not succumb to temptation
and call on the Muse out of the blue.
If ever you are in need of inspiration
patiently wait for her to visit you.
