Glorious Ruins

from the ABC set THE EMMANUEL SET

Meltdown God with your microscopes,
pin Him under concentration,
dissect a deity for convenience,
make Him safe for fleshly consumption.
but the power is contained in another paradigm.

The Spirit is ignored for a reason,
anything not understood is awful, fearful,
we must know, to control,
we must understand,
to stop the swipe leftwards,
to prevent the known consequence of presumptive disobedience.

There is such a deep down awareness of our flaw, our stain,
so we hide it under the bed of our unreason,
our hearts are tied to the level of emotion,
that only allows self to be prominent.

Shuts out `other` with the devil as bogeyman,
while the `other` that cannot be mentioned in adult conversation,
unless in profanity,
waits at the door.

Some terrified, convinced there only for haunting,
others say they will wait to invite,
as if time were in our hands.
Love is terrifying when it costs everything,
but dying to what was not ours,
is the only requisite.
`Self` enthroned is the burden we need not carry.

While purity, holiness, faith, love, uncompromising
self-sacrifice,
are such hard, foreign words.
They bite in their strangeness.
we burn up quickly in anger, indignation.
And all the time His waves flow ceaselessly, a song of forgiveness,
only waiting to heal,
to draw to Himself,
one tired of the outrageous deception.

Be dethroned,
fall in the silence and claim your rights,
only as the child, the created one,
one loved,
for all my glorious brokeness.

This is strong:

'dissect a deity for convenience'

as is:

'While purity, holiness, faith, love, uncompromising
self-sacrifice,
are such hard, foreign words.
They bite in their strangeness.'

Powerful emotion captured here!

And I love:

'so we hide it under the bed of our unreason'

Think not and need should be reversed in:

'`Self` enthroned is the burden we not need carry,'
