Love's Definitive

from the ABC set THE EMMANUEL SET

Before the dawn when there is no light,
perhaps before time itself,
for this is my dream,
You are resplendent in anticipation,
harbouring creation
like a mother with her new-born.
You throw out the light,
the courtier and the cloak;
and darkness falls at Your feet.

In the thin alleys of the world,
where human waste breathes itself
into dark clinging corridors of misery;
You watch with lidless eyes,
the fallen, the desperate,
the lacking all hope.

Love's definitive suffers all,
there is no respite
for one untainted.

The word spoken,
earth teemed,
glorious myriad life,
life and love co-joined.
The Eternal One,
perfect community;
and it was good.

In the sun bleached Savannahs
of baked and cracked infertility
dry dust hopelessness,
where the stomach becomes the heart and mind;
You sit with the born-dying,
kissing in their last breath,
cradling and mourning,
unseen and unknown,

Sin entered,
and became myth for the lost.
But redemption was always pre-eminent,
Emmanuel's time had come.

Emmanuel, `Bright Morning Star`;
Love's definitive,
born, becoming us,
flesh of our flesh.

God, feeling our frailties,
touching our need;
glory hidden in the blush
of a virgin's womb.

Red-light glare,
and such promises;
only love is left outside the squalid gloom.
Such promises;
and in the heated exchange,
in the meeting of famished need
one is satiated,
both fall deeper.

While the recipient
of undesired favour
sulks staring at the dying of the night.
In silence Emmanuel mouths her secret name,
and then;
"You are known, you are known!"

"Cursed is the one who hangs on the tree."
But who has ears to hear?
Who has eyes to see?
What the heart has quickened?
Emmanuel lies dead and bleeding,
and the whole lost world,
weeps, wonders, and forgets.

But while the dragon rejoices,
the `death-destroyer`
wakes and yawns wide the chasm;
and life and more life floods,
cascades and purifies.

Horror is at once
wakened in understanding.
Love's definitive,
eyes flaming victory.

There is one kneeling
absorbed and bowed in fervent adoration,
to the bare wood wall
of a lonely room.
"Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus!"
Emmanuel,
Love's definitive sees it all.

And benediction in the form of His presence,
sends the lover weeping,
falling lower.

As dawn rises over every horizon,
and the daybreak reveals
reforms and redresses;
there is a song that some hear
rising on the wind that comes
from everywhere.

Emmanuel is calling His own,
Love's definitive:

"I Am coming beloved,
soon".

you have certainly put a lot of heart and soul into
this poem.

A very thoughtful piece of writing.

Jenny.

Thanks Jenny, huge subject,
my interpretation of what's become my paradigm.

"where the stomach becomes the heart and mind;

cradling and mourning,
unseen and unknown,"

I didn't understand the whole poem, just that it was very sad.

"only love is left outside the squalid gloom."

The sounds are beautiful but meaning so desolate

The reality of Christ's redemption, from the start of Creation. His love and compassion displayed to those suffering, and those who know Him, worshiping.
A kind of panorama.
