Horrorscope

from the ABC set Carpet Bombing and other poems

My stars are not yours anymore.
Like parallel universes
They dwindle, at once intimate and remote
Beyond our suns;
Those satellites we disorbited,
Barren comets left to wander
Confined in strange ellipses
Below the ruthless arc of heaven
Above the callous pit of hell.

Here, deserted, we simulate waves
On tide-less beaches
And retain only purgatorial glimpses
Of a squandered evolution

Caught contrary in an unevent horizon
We proffer no light and no shadow
And within this bleeding-ear vacuum
Silence pounds the discordant rhythm
Of dissonant hearts

Oh Sweet Darling,
We looked for signs all our lives
In other telescopes
Why didn't we see this coming?

The last two lines of the first stanza are outstanding amongst so many others maudsy. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers scratch - but have redrafted in several times since first post and once again cannot get it right. Must do better
