Things are okay right now and hopefully it will be like this for a while

from the ABC set Air guitar lamp incident

I make a note of another dinner party
on the calendar on my office wall
and look at the paintings

this room is starting to look
the way I have always wanted
my phone beeps and I know it's you

you can always tell.
Sobriety is good for me
especially now it's Autumn

I have never eaten this many vegetables
or planted seeds
or assembled so much flat pack furniture.

When you come round we will get rat arsed
we'll drink cocktails on the beanbags
in my front room

maybe I'll pull down the projector and we can watch a film
and talk about earlier on this year
'You were so MISERABLE!' you'll remind me

and I remember you trying so hard to cheer me up
and I never even came close to a smile.
It seems like a soap opera, and I'd been replaced by a different actor

I can't wait til you come round so I can show you my house.
I won't tell you about this new sobriety.
I should never have been drinking that much on my own anyway.

I enjoyed this. It strikes the exact right tone between conversation and confessional. Nicely done.
