It was Christmas night in Cork
and snow turned into sleet .
A crowd all walked together
along Great Patrick Street .
Full of the Christmas spirit
as friendly as could be ,
Young people arm in arm
it was beautiful to see .
People poured out from pubs
as it was closing too .
Everyone that you met said
Happy Christmas to you .
We gathered round Mac Curtain Street ,
sang a song or two .
The white Christmas that we dreamt of
was happening too .
What a great feeling it was
to be there in the crowd .
It was Christmas time in Cork
and it made me feel proud .
The Irish are a people
who have found something rare ,
It’s love and understanding
for a place that they share .
A warm atmosphere fell down
all over Cork City .
Snow covered streets
and rooftops made everything pretty .
Making their way back to their homes
to get their heads down .
Christmas was almost over
and Cork had been unwound .
