My body was a canvas
for their hatred.
My fear-whitened skin
stretched over a fragile
frame of bone
where bruises blossomed
like dark orchids.
The patter of footsteps
stopping outside my door
were the harbingers
of death.
I cried out.
But no dove returned.

Hi there, I loved the first part of this poem upto the words dark orchid...then it seems to fall off a bit and and loss conciousness...personally and completely subjective i feel if it was reworked and added to it could have the makings of earning a cherry and stars besides....

An emotive write, Magic on an even more emotive and heartbreaking subject.
There are no words which could possibly convey what most of us feel. One instance maybe, where less is more.
A brave and moving poem.

Yes a brave write, I've been following this horrific event unfolding. I could never have written so sensitively about it. I always fear too much could be OTT this is just right IMO Val x

Dear Magic, thanks for writing this,I had a bash but I am full of angst in mine and tried several times but couldn't really do it,and as Val said,It's a fearful subject to approach but this is beautiful,I wish we could all do something in memory of baby P.xx
