This Poet's Hands

from the ABC set Conversation With My Thirteen-Year-Old Self

My thumb, tectonic plate with a scar,
sitting quietly like Australia.

Burns spread across my index finger;
quilt, dream-catcher.

A freckle winks from the left-hand corner
of my palm. A signature.

Volumes, volumes of thoughts in such a short piece. Well done, amazing work!

Poignant, and to the point was it woven...

A word portrait, captured with minimal strokes. Excellent work.

Thank you Jason ;) You know I used to favour art above poetry - couldn't stop scribbling, but then the poetry took over. It's nice to think that a little piece of the artist has found it's way through!
