Thorn to a Rose

With you
I can leave the glass-and-ice of my usual façade
Lying vacant, unoccupied upon the tiles
And send my thanks soaring up
Like a Chinese lantern, into the indigo velvet sky

With you
I lose my barriers, my sharpness, my safety
Your insistent nudging warmth threads
Into blue veins, expands outwards
Love me, linger with me
Lying soft limp lazy in your arms

And you create of me
This muse, this subtle shifting goddess
Brave as firelight, with a small smile
Sweet, sensual conjuration-
Of shadows and thorns, you make a blushing rose.
