Chapter 59
As Dwaine entered the flat the phone was ringing.
For a moment he wondered who'd be calling at this time before picking it up,
"Hello.
A smile spread across his face,
"Oh you alright Jarv, wassup changed your mind about leaving?
"Oh.
"What twice in one day, you are getting all soppy and sentimental on me aint you bruv.
"Ha ha.
His expression became serious,
"What time?
"Yeah sure, I'll see you there.
"Oh yeah I saw that boy they were busting earlier, dunno how he got out.
"Yeah definately I see him earlier.
"Yeah I'll see you then mate.
After replacing the handset he wondered what his old friend wanted to see him about. The clock read quarter past nine, forty-five minutes to kill.
Going over to the stereo he selected an L.P from his mum's collection and put it on the turn-table. As the soothing sound of Otis Reading emitted from the speakers he took his usual vantage point at the window.
Further down the road, outside Ruby's mum's he saw a police-car drawing up. Officers got out and approached the door. With them, his hands cuffed behind his back, was Ty.
Another lost soul.
The dull ache in his hand reminded him he needed to set it in something frozen.
