The Lie

I was put on the spot
I told a lie
It flew like a bird
Down the phone line

A lucky escape I thought
But he who possessed my prize
Delivered it to someone else
Then it truly took flight

The other told another
And then he passed it through
And then, before long
Everyone knew

My lie became most popular
Impossible to halt
And as the last person heard
The lie became the truth

You see…
When I was the last man standing
I had no choice but to agree
Because at that moment
It becomes a reality

Now I am forced to live the lie
I wear it like a shell
Heed this warning…

Next time you tell a lie
Be prepared
It could become your hell

Be prepared
It could become your hell"
