Wasted Life

I had such promise,
I threw it away,
Such a wasted life,
Such a sunny day.
I lay in the dirt to hide
My scars, eternally banned
From joining the stars.
I cannot compete,
My language is dead,
Trampled beneath
Mediocrity's tread.
I have no love,
I have no anchor,
I have no one to stand
And fight off the rancor.
Just me alone, an army of one,
Like trying to spit,
And put out the sun.

A terribly heart rending piece, lots to read here between the lines.. If it is biographical all I can say is hold on and keep positive, if it's not then you have tremendous insight. Val x

The last two lines are just genius. They're funny in a way, but also they are very deep and say so much forcing me to take a moment and think about what they're saying. That's something no average poet can do. Great work, well done.
