a small row of matchbox
apartments
line the curve of a highway
spilling out of a field
of yellowing grass
and fences
number 111
in sadness, southern Texas
a small one bedroom
with a
two by two
balcony
its floor covered in soil
the plants
have started to grow
and the green breathes different
in this corner
watched over by a man
his hair loose down to his waist
special force tattoos down his arms
a smoke dangling from his lips
and in the corner
the red topped gnome
to remind him of his mother's garden.

Anything mentioning southern Texas is fine with me. I was there once and it stays in my dreams. Wonderful.

Thank you Tony and Silver :)
RJ - I couldn't agree with you more. I visited Texas with so many preconceived notions and was delighted to find how wrong I was about it all.
