“Ambiguity”

Where the ambiguity lies
is in the attempt
to make a thought
concise –

once you free a dove
you can only guess
where it’ll build a nest –
on the bough of friendship?
or in the stem of love?

- when a tree grows
will you know where each
branch will decide to reach
as it spreads
and curls?

- will the shade hold its breath
when the sun is peaking,
or will it continue living
where the light breaks?

Are there multiple meanings within
the three stanzas above,
or are they just three
images we have all seen?
