Just another night out
like so many before.
Just another part
of London; another store;
another local fish’n’chips;
another restaurant or a bar;
another three hours of small sips
of white wine and an hour to home by car,
but we get there in a quarter.
Just another night of breathless
laughs and sighs in candle amber
burning the sheets of the sleepless.
Just another evening
that I silently wish it
was as easy as that; instead I’m sipping
a pint of lager and enjoying a lemon tart...

Rather sad and yet humourous!
Loved:
'Just another night of breathless
laughs and sighs in candle amber
burning the sheets of the sleepless.'

Love the Last Stanza. Poem starts out serious ends up funny yet somehow wistful, very well executed. Well done Nathan. Val
