Too many to let die,
too few to rescue.
Too often a white lie
was a nation’s polite ‘adieu’.
One simple life lost
within the trenches.
Not even a ghost;
just a heart that clenches
to its last thread
of life; its last beat.
Too many now asleep in their earthy beds,
too few now stand firmly on their feet…

I really like this Nathan. I'm a history geek so this really spoke to me! It reminded me of the battle of the Somme and all the senseless slaughter of World War One. The last two lines are a perfect, strong end.
