I keep trying to write
words that just don’t yet
exist within the pages
of my personal thesaurus.
My pencil keeps scribbling;
the rubber keeps trailing the
lead as the lines unroll
like a Turkish carpet
for some short-lived celebrity –
a lost smile unnoticed,
just a battery wasted
for a blunt camera flash.
Still, my pencil follows the rhythm –
a comma here,
a fullstop there
and an unwanted adjective
sneaking up behind
the one noun itself –
a word that doesn’t yet exist
and a blunt smile unnoticed.
Still, the lines keep unfolding
just like roses in spring,
but not red ones –
bleached petals like paper;
a dance-floor for my pencil –
a comma here,
a fullstop there.
Ending a poem of
unwanted adjectives...

'and an unwanted adjective
sneaking up behind
the one noun itself'
Brilliant imagery! I also liked the similes used when describing the unfolding lines.

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you liked my poem.
Yes, it's amazing how easy it is to write about love when you're out of ideas on how to write it. ;-D

Wow i really enjoyed this poem.
You've created some really good ideas with great use of figurative language.
I love it when you're struggling to find something to write and that in itself becomes an interesting topic to write about.
:D

I don't think I've read anything like it! I agree with MistakenMagic - the similes are fantastic!
