"Your eyes"

from the ABC set Transparent mirrors.

Every time I look into
your eyes I don’t know
what to see.
There is no dreamy view,
although,
there is dreamy hope, alien and unearthly.
Do your eyes have any value
if they only consume the furthering echo?
And yet, your eyes are a tunnel of a living mystery.

I feel like your eyes could one
day become my own.
Like I could see myself in them,
and the reason
for my existence that is still unknown.
But I don’t. Your eyes condemn

every reason for my
existence.
No future, just hope. A fantasy.
And yet, I desperately try
to shorten the distance
between our eyes. Two horizons of the dead sea.

It is said that love’s eyes are
like mirrors.
Not yours though.
Your eyes are my scars,
because my love is like an echo of whispers
in these dark hollows.
But, I hope that one day I will look into your eyes not from afar.
I hope that in a few years
our eyes will fill with love’s echo...

A well done poem. It is very personal, and reflects a desire to overcome, and through the poem there is a longing for a mutual agreement, and the ending provides hope. From the words and images, there is such promise. Keep writing. From Richard and Esther Provencher.

I really, really like this. It has some wonderful ideas. Like many of mine (because I tend to just spill them out onto a page and then not redraft them) it needs some tweaking and polish in places - in my very humble opinion anyway. I loved the last verse, for example, as it's beautiful, but wasn't keen on the use of the word 'echo' twice.
Hope it's ok that I said it needed a bit of spit and polish.
