Twink

from the ABC set Poems The Cat Brought In

when the grown-up clock
calls our world awake
would you wave and wish me tiny

then fly with me
to the cuckoo house
where we’ll laugh and love and shelter

and I’ll never shave
or stand in line
to earn in the city of pirates

cos I’m just a boy
outgrowing his clothes
resigning his role as an actor

for a firefly life
a twink in the eye
two sparks rising free till autumn.
