A person’s story
in black bin liners.
You brought your bags in
and emptied the contents
all over my life.
Together we arranged your belongings
into neat, tidy piles;
salvaged the gems,
discarded anything broken or damaged.
We built piles of our own,
snippets of mementoes,
high-rising towers
of happiness, love and sentimentality.
We marvelled in their splendour.
I thought they would stand for an eternity.
Now our skyward pillars of nostalgia
lie in pieces all around me.
Two people’s honest creation,
but mine alone the task of restoration.
Rummaging amongst the debris,
the fallout from a disastrous ending,
I rebuild two separate towers;
mine wavering in sombre solitude,
yours quivering in anticipation.
I swoop up the contents,
your half of our story,
place into black bin liners
and leave on my doorstep.

:) ha ha I sure hope so! I only discovered the site at the end of the weekend and I've been glued to my Pc ever since, this is a really good place for new and naive writers like me so thank you, the cherry means a lot I'm really pleased.

Doing random searches for writing sites to see what was out there; no other site has got me this hooked I can tell you that! This is just the kind of place I've been looking for for what seems like forever. So many great writers on here you must have a tough job, but a thoroughly enjoyable one too, no doubt :)
