Lessons - Poem 2 - Lady Moon

from the ABC set The Reflective Collective

(for B)

With the window open
the chill of this night
floats into my room,
a thousand glittering stars in its wake.
And there she is;
Lady Moon,
her graceful presence
bringing a blissful serenity
to the landscape
she admires from up high.

I wonder what you see tonight,
wonder if you see
this blanket of beauty the stars have created,
if Lady Moon’s divine glow
makes your heart weep
as it does mine.

For beyond this room
is your room,
a million dreams away,
beyond the oceans and valleys.
And the vastness
between us
is almost as great as this night,
though it pales
in comparison with
the hollow despair
I feel inside me,
at knowing those stars
will always be closer to me
than you are.

Knowing that,
as my watery eyes
fall upon Lady Moon’s etheral portrait,
your eyes fall upon
the last traces
of her silvery mane,
as her silhouette melts in submission
before the anticipated rise
of tomorrow’s sun.

Just for one night, I hope
for us to both see the same sky,
for us both to shiver
in the same crisp summer breeze.

For now, I embrace this
sparkling wonderment alone,
touch the cold glass
and think that maybe

just maybe

you’re stood at your window
a million moonbeams away,
praying that I
could see your sky.

I am glad you mentioned to me to read these, Rachel. I really love this one, the sorrow separation, you make beatiful! & love I think? It sounds as though you had already given up on ever seeing them again? I have been somewhere similar emotionally. There are so many little phrases in this which are magical to me. Kahdai xx

Ah, Kahdai thank you! :)

So pleased you came and took a look, and liked what you found! This one is for a friend who lives far away who means an awful lot to me, so I'm really glad you liked this and that the emotion came through as intended. Thank you for such a lovely comment :)
