Behind The Bookcase
by Mark Steensland, 2012
Children's Mystery / Fantasy
Sarah and her family move into late Grandma Winnie's house in order to sort out and sell. When Sarah discovers a mysterious bookcase which leads to a different realm called Scotopia, she begins her adventure. It involves a talking cat and strange creatures living there. Dangers lurk and scary things may happen without her parents to turn to and save her or younger brother Billy.
Good story. I enjoyed it from the beginning. I did worry about Sarah not being able to do the right thing and save the day. Her determination pulled through quite well despite the weirdness. That's why I liked it.
Kelly Murphy is an excellent illustrator. I loved the pencilled sketches with brilliant detail.
I rate 5 out of 5.
