One Year On!

from the ABC set Bits and Pieces

About a year ago I undertook The Great Summer Purge of 2005. Some of you may remember me mentioning this on ABC. I particularly recall receiving some sound and supportive advice from 2Lou ' thanks for that, Lou! For those who don't know, this was a momentous occasion when I threw away all of my previous writing. None of it had seen the light of day. It had sat there, in some cases for many years, in a large foolscap ringbinder, doing nothing, being read my no one except me, and I felt that, if I was to have a go at being a "serious writer, I had to start again.

It was a scary time! I had some regrets and I troubled over it for a couple of months or so afterwards. But since then I have produced a sizeable collection on ABC, I have discovered Larry and Mick, I have taken part in an exhibition at The Mailbox in Birmingham, I have had a few cherries, I have received some kind (and occasionally less so) words from ABCers, I have had a piece accepted in Fuselit, and I have made a few tentative steps into the World of Publishing. Regrets? Pah!

Now it's time for the next step¦ but what will it be? The novel? The BBC script? The comic strip? The standup routine? Giving up "proper work entirely and becoming a full-time, self-sustained Writer? Who knows! Exciting times ahead¦
