Rosebay

from the ABC set pete de poet

Another dawn in Rose Bay
Dawn of another Australian day
People rise and have a shower
To look their best for those in power
The unemployed in bed still lay
Another dawn in Rose Bay.

A baby cries, a woman screams
They both suffer, from bad dreams
A toothless old lady gasps and dies,
On an on the baby cries
The woman’s screams fade away
Another dawn in Rose Bay.

The homeless roam in search of food
The rich and famous are in the mood
They are in the mood to make more money
Though they have so much it isn’t funny
The poor and needy are turned away
Another dawn in Rose Bay.

A snotty nosed misfit runs down the road
Has no debts, has nothing owed
All he wants is at his hands
Seldom asks, just demands
Always has to have his say
Another dawn in Rose Bay.

The moon comes up and darkness falls
Its closing time in the malls
The rich, the poor, both go to sleep
Close their eyes and count the sheep
But tomorrow will bring another day,
Another dawn in Rose Bay.

I like this poem, it talks about real people, going
about their way. You are a real poet.
Jenny.
