I bought the nature dvd's
wanting you to see, before the flat
magic of cartoons where no one hurts, dies, just lies
plastic, smooth, as throw away buys
in landfill sites
forgotten yet unrotting
that Life is more
than our tragedy of success. To grow
soothed in knowing
with such 3D hues as shimmer
on a butterfly, a flap of whos wings
can stir the air to start a whirlwind
there is hope
But holding you I'm afraid
all these animals will be dead
ends of their kind, and
I cry - not as they who can't know why
till you kiss me as I do you, to make bruises better, but more
softly, as the passing of a butterfly
