(Verse one)
Children roam the streets,
With not a bite to eat.
Just a brown paper bag,
And a rag, to sleep.
They wonder if there's hope,
Or are they in too deep.
Or should they let go of the rope,
And just fall asleep.
(Verse two)
Father comes home from work,
And he's scared to death.
Mother cries and 'goodbye' is what she read,
She's readin' off this letter,
It's really getting to her head.
Father runs to the table 'what's goin' on' he said
Mother cries in disbelief,
'It's our little baby, I think she's gone and dead'
(Verse three)
The baby child wrote,
She's tired of her step-daddy using her.
Saying he'll buy her fancy things, whilst sexually abusing her.
Her mother is shocked about what she has read,
She can't get pictures of her baby crying, out of her head.
(Verse four)
Now she's in the mood, to be Hollywood,
A stranger has told her 'your acting skills are good'.
She gets off the train and there's a man waiting there,
She gets off, and he says 'let down your hair'.
He puts lipstick on her collar and make-up on her face.
He taking her on the streets, of St Sunset Boulevard,
He's making this girl sell her body, and work real hard.
Day after day, she's sexually beat,
By a stranger upon a stranger coming off the street.
She can't move with those manacles on her feet.

Just to clear it up, verse two, three and four are different stories of these runaway childrens lives.
I hope this piece opens your eyes, as to what happens on a daily basis to these children.
Thank you for reading

I read this and it's very sad, very heavy reading,
but I just had to keep reading. What came to mind
while reading this was the kidnapping of Kate and
Gerry McCann's daughter Maddie McCann, I know it's
probably nothing to do with anything like this, but
I just thought of poor Maddie growing up frightened,
as a prostitute, it's just to sad to imagine.
Hope you didn't mind me writing this comment.

No, I don't mind at all.
It's incredibly sad to imagine these kind of things happening in our world. It makes you angry doesn't it?, that people can be sick enough to take away a childs innocence.

Yes I totally agree with you, it does and the worst
part is that there is nothing worse than not knowing
if she is alive or dead.
Thanks for the read.

Your social realism is striking Pinda. Another heart wrenching piece from your hand. Thank you for the read
