(of the painting “Soft Construction with Boiled Beans” by Salvador Dali)
mighty Colossus
of flesh and brawn
and tit
of bone
the desert sky
does not pity you
unswallowable eyesore
unconscious meat
add to this mess
a smattering of boiled beans
or any other mealy
melancholic
vegetable
closing one’s eyes
and holding one’s nose
is futile when the grip tightens
into a fist around
the throat
bodies and bodies
will fall
upon Mediterranean dust
painting the sand
as an appalling picture of Tartarus
barren land becomes barathrum
the unmoving desert sky
will show no remorse

PH, this is VERY good. You capture the essence of living the moment, during a time of then. Cheers, Richard LP
