A Strange Breed

from the ABC set New York: From the Inside

New Yorkers. You can love us, or you can hate us; at least understand us. I'm proud to be from NYC. I go to a great school, have great friends, and know all the best places for hanging out. I won't deny it, we can be weird people. We tend to be distant and seem cold at times, but we really aren't. Kindness shines through the grim, grimy faces we put on for the benefit of no one in particular. It can be small things, like holding the train doors in the subway, giving a seat to an old lady on the bus, or offering help to people struggling in general. Sometimes, like on September 11th, it shows in a bigger way. We're a veritible melting pot of people, but we really are the same when it all comes down to it. Plus, we're the best jaywalkers in the country.
