I can't remember the last time I was here. I used to come here every day to write and comment and read. I was involved, and I loved it. There was no better feeling than being in a community where other writers like myself came to showcase their latest work, and actually receive some feedback. I was strong.
Now, I write this as a man feeling hollow and weak. Classes and failed relationships have left me tired, and I'm finding myself consumed with a sense of ennui. But enough of my bitching.
Without further delay, I present:
"Torched: An Odd Hobby"
Most people would rather have a nice Zippo lighter than a crappy disposable. Zippo has long been the leading name in refillable lighters, and expensive ones at that. Disposables on the other hand, are cheap, fairly common, and actually quite a bit of fun for a pyromaniac.
The concept of torching is simple: re-engineer the lighter a bit for the maximum flame-up. It's easy enough to do. Pry off the silver faceplate to expose the igniter and gas nozzle. Move the flow regulator to the full on position and pry it up. Spin it back to low, and snap it back in. Now, your low setting is what the high setting used to be. Turn it up to high, put the faceplate back on, and enjoy.
Some people are probably wondering "What the f**k is the point?" Well, there really is no point. It's just something to do. You may say it's stupid or boring but to me, it's something I can take pride in.
Plus, some people who have no mechanical skill whatsoever are willing to pay decent amounts for torched lighters.

It's good to have you back - now use your writing as therapy to get out of your slump. Good Luck!

Thank you both. I was in a tough spot, and my writing really helped me through that.
Tova: I've read some of your work, and I love it. You've got a knack for descriptive storytelling, and you've got a new fan. :)
T: Thanks for all the support (recent, and in the past). You certainly aren't my mother, but you do seem to know best. See you around the site.
