The Benefits of Empty Space

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

There is a crack in the
cliff where I go to hide my face
a place where terror cannot
find me
a place where the eagle hovers
his eyes seeking
my heart pulsating

and grief tries to overcome.
But I am safe here
within shadows
away from the wind

able to spy on those below.
I become part of the rock face
embedded in the crack of mountain
a filling where my soul becomes
part of its strength. I am home.
