A BUILDING BONANZA poem (2nd version)

from the ABC set ALBERTA POEMS then and now

A Building Bonanza

Some Alberta towns look
more like
bulging side-pockets
of development,
clumped as oases amid
cattle country

houses popping up like
marshmallows,
clutches of yards bricked
and fenced.

Devon and Beaumont
street samples
join a Devonian Research
Centre and
Fas Gas business, in a
growing landscape

new asphalt highway
leading us across
the North Saskatchewan
River
and beyond.
