A fleet of lobster
boats lick their way across
Northumberland Strait
like smudges
under an Atlantic sky
crew bragging ahead of time,
made-in-China mackinaws moist
with morning dew,
stench of herring bait
a sure lure.
Slatted traps parade
as footprints on ocean’s bottom,
home to ‘canners’ & ‘markets’
lobster eyes protruding,
claws groping.

Great little read Richard, I could just picture
those Lobster boats.

Thank you, Jenny. The excitement of watching fishermen come in with their day's catch is neat. The smell of lobster bait, herring fish usually, is not so pleasant. Richard LP
