THIS EARTH - poem

from the ABC set DANCING IN THE LIGHT - poetry for everyone

Soothing as
an echoing valley, the woodlands
mask a river’s route, carved
from ancient days
grooving in the rocky soil.

We are clusters in awe
within a ravine of
beauty, where deer hooves
hesitate at foreign steps

and peering through a
curtain of mist
we lay claim to its whispering.

Nature is so important to me, and it demands my respect as well as protection. My sons and I spent much time together, camping and hiking in the woods. Such memories. RLP
