I LOST A FRIEND poem

from the ABC set A GRANDPA'S CORNER

I Lost a Friend

When told
tiny lips quiver
only six
and a heartbeat quickens

little man of substance
sad but grandpa
has passed
away.

Can’t be
he can’t be gone,
I still have things to tell him.

Beautifully brief, Richard. An excellent description of the bald unreality of loss.

Thank you Sikander for your lovely comment. Sometimes, brief is good, eh? I find it a welcome challenge to get inside the soul of my subject, and use their voice . Richard LP
