from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

Eyes of dark glow
Irises
swallowing me
listening
heartbeat thrumping

a world of books, away from
life’s pain
and mother and
dad
hoping their daughter will
go out and play
with boys and…

they don’t realize her world
is fun and games,
books are her
toys.
