LOVE ME poem

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

Love Me

Love me as a son

who needs nurturing, suckles
in early manhood
requiring gifts from his mother
and father
a DNA of perfection, the
skin tones of interracial attitudes
promise of success in this
world of worlds
boldness to conquer, success
to fulfill

and love me as a daughter

someone who brings joy in a smile
who gurgles with knowledge
in a path to womanhood
to whom the future is
like a ripe melon
where men gaze breathless
not only at the desires of beauty, but
at an attitude of success
the fulfilling of a women’s status
in this world of worlds

and love me as a mother and father

to whom happiness is not
less than a metaphor
seeking to overcome challenges
for children of distinction
providing love and care in early growth
from early babe to childhood
as parents enter their own comfort
wishing when they do pass on
their child is an extension of
a greater plan.

Yes, love me as a son, a daughter
a mother and a father.
