One Deliberate Notion

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

I continue to withstand TV messages
and sometimes wonder if they are really
a tongue of reality,
conveying hurtful moments, with analyzing
taking place until the screen decides
my maximum patience

one item catching my attention
about a Dogon man South of Timbuktu
who sits on weathered rocks,
awaiting celebrations to begin---a Mask Dance
prayer for protection
from killed animal vengeance.

My coffee is aromatic, its taste
quickening my lips. From a soft sofa
I glance at surrounding comforts, bowl
of grapes a treat, and the
interruption of
advertising easily propelling
me away from the world that man
must survive in.
