On the Outskirts of Life

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

Harvey Jones tries not
to sneak-attack
another tourist for a handout,
perhaps enough for
a coffee at the local diner

hard to imagine him not
working his usual
habitat at the bus stop
rolling eyes trying to attract
a little sympathy

wondering if they’ll notice
his floppy
shoes and second hand
taste in clothing. And they do.
