Cardinal blossoms atop
a bramble bush
its colourful mop of furry
attire striking,
black-masked
within the splash of wintry snow
no fear of predators
is this bird from southern trails
pushing tightly against
a wayward wind,
feels no sting of January fever
gathering inside its puff of warmth.
Red chest exhales a grunt
of satisfying delight,
such a bird in an afternoon sun
a prince among natural grace.

I appologise if you have already read, I have a similar poem (my most recent one) "peregrine" I would appreciate your looking at it if you haven't already. Thanks Richard.
