from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

Parallel worlds capture the present
then curve to the past
as cars move through traffic
ahead of me like
fireflies at night

memories of Montreal caliches intermingle
with old street cars
muddy roads replaced by
asphalted speed zones.

I strive to dodge today’s plastic bumpers
when they stop suddenly
leaving me shaken

in the continuing journey of
older age. A geezer in the valley
of diminishing memories
soaked in gravy from the past is an image
difficult to shake when you’re
heading for the last bust stop.

the last stanza is stunning, draws the flow of the poem to a close beautifully

Your words are precious, Maggy. I love to write-- tasting each morsel of life, more delightful each diminishing day. Live life. Forgive others. And move on, regardless of what has pulled you down in the past. A tidbit of advice-expression which is a prerogative from growing older. Please check out our Website at: www.wsprog.com/rp/. Cheers, from Richard and Esther.
