WHEN THE LION ROARS - poem

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

chirping ceases and the world
listens to strife in
the Congo, greed in America, Iraqi
suicide bombers, kidnappings
in Mexico and
I go to work, pay taxes
discipline my children, love my wife.

In the morning of our daily
struggles, after a bowl of cereal,
traffic and hospital stops, hair
growing grey
and money in diminished
supply, all is not lost. Within
turmoil there continues
an enduring love.
