Out For Blood 20

from the ABC set OFB

Vicky looked on helplessly as Hal throttled the life out of her friend, she shouted at the top of her voice. ‘Hey Hal!’

He turned to see the blond one throw herself heavily at the bars yet again, and then fall to the floor. Her nose was bleeding and a deep cut had appeared beside her left eye. Hal was thinking too quickly, if he doesn’t stop the blond one from self harm he would be in dire trouble, it would be his turn for the shackles.

He dropped the dark haired one, the one he thought he had just killed and went to pick up the blond. As he did Jill began to cough and rub at her throat, Hal was too preoccupied with the blond to notice the dark haired one slowly regaining consciousness.

Jill opened her eyes and saw the blurred vision of someone kneeling over a body beside her. Then as though her adrenaline had slapped her across the face she sprang for the door and quickly closed and locked it. Hal lunged for the door and tugged at it with all his considerable strength, but it did no good.

‘Open this fucking door you little cunt!’ He said through large clenched teeth.
‘Go fuck yourself.’ Replied Jill hoarsely.
Hal pointed to Vicky. ‘Open it now, or I’ll pull her fucking arms off!'

Vicky was still lying on the floor of the cell; ‘lucky for her she had actually knocked herself out,’ thought Jill. ‘Or she might be panicking just about now!’

Jill walked a little closer to the bars. ‘No you won’t you fucking prick, you harm her any more than she is already, and your boss lady won’t be too pleased with you... Your Ella.’

Hal reached for his gun but the holster was empty; he had left it lying on the desk. He then thrust one arm through the bars in an attempt to grab Jill but she was just out of reach. She looked at Vicky still lying on the cell floor; Jill knew she would be safe for the time being.

She went to the desk and picked up the telephone, after tapping on the buttons a couple of times she realised the line was dead. She then saw Hals' gun and picked it up, Jill had never fired one before but there was a first time for everything. Hal looked up to the ceiling a second before hearing far off thunder. Looking at him Jill saw a grin begin to form on his pock marked face.

‘Hey lady...’
She turned swiftly to her right and saw the man that had been shackled to the floor moving his head.
‘Hey lady…’ He said again.

She walked over putting the gun in the back of her jeans and began to unlock the door, but then she had second thoughts. ‘What if he was one of them? What if she released him and he decided to kill her?’ Jill quickly pulled the key from the lock.

‘Who are you?’ she asked taking out the gun.
‘He’s just a nosey little fucker who thought he could outsmart us!’ explained Hal.
Jill turned her head. ‘I wasn’t talking to you fuck face.’

More thunder sounded in the distance, and it was getting closer. Hals’ grin had broadened almost to a full blown smile. The man in the other cell had no idea what was going to happen to him once the rain started to fall.

‘My names Gregg Pierroni, I’m a private investigator from Richmond. If my hands were free I’d show you my ID.’
‘You don’t have ID, I checked. What were you investigating?’ said Jill.

‘I was following a lead, some girls have gone missing and if my source is correct they may have ended up here. Listen, are you gonna let me up or not? Only this floor is damn cold, and I have this phobia about being shackled, I had a nasty experience once. And not only that, it smells like, like burnt Pork down here!’

Just then small dots of black appeared on the floor around Gregg, and one or two drops of rain hit his chest.
‘Ow! What the fuck is that, acid rain?’ he said beginning to squirm.
Hal started to laugh. ‘It is to you!’

Gregg commenced shouting and pulling on his shackles. ‘Get me the fuck off this floor lady.’
Jill dropped the gun at her feet and fumbled with the keys trying to open the cell door.
Gregg tried to turn his head away from the open hatch to stop the rain hitting his face. ‘C’mon hurry up.’ he yelled.
‘I’m going as fast as I can hold on.’

Hal was laughing loudly taking in the smell of the burning flesh. ‘Oh save me I’m melting, I’m melting.’ he chortled.

Jill entered the cell and put Greggs’ jacket and T-shirt over his face and body while she unlocked the shackles and released him. Once out of the cell Gregg checked himself over and found around a dozen pock marks on his torso.

‘How’s my face? How’s my face?’ he asked rapidly.
Jill looked his face over, her eyes cringed. ‘Jesus Christ!’
Gregg panicked. ‘What? Is it that bad?’
‘No, just kidding. Only one or two small dots.’ She smiled.

Sighing with relief Gregg put on his T-shirt and jacket, then picked up the gun and moved swiftly over to the other cell pointing it at Hals’ head, he was just about to pull the trigger when Jill pulled down his arm.

‘No, if you shoot him the whole town will hear it!’ She said.
Hal knew no one would have heard the gun, they were all gathered almost half a mile away in the Town Hall. But he wasn’t about to tell them that.
