I dreamt a dream

from the ABC set My Poetry

I dreamt a dream
I promised you
The brightly burning sun
The Twinkling stars in the obsidian sky

I promised you
The planets, all aligned
The universe that rules over all time

I woke from my dream
And saw you sleeping still
Dreaming of my promises as yet unfulfilled
Your disembodied voice ringing in my mind
“you live in the reality realm while I still dream in mine”

I turned and shook your shoulder
“wake up!, Wake up! I cried
Day has come!, Start from slumber!
Time is passing by!

For I cannot give you a
Brightly burning sun
Nor the twinkling stars in the obsidian sky

I cannot give you
The planets, all aligned
Nor the universe that rules over all time

Your eyes remained closed
No matter my persistence
Your face contorted in a nightmare
Your troubles, your resistance

My hand I withdrew from shaking
Your sleeping face contorting
the dawning of the futileness
a realization in the making

my saddened eyes alighted on you
a fond kiss of farwell bestowed
my socks and shoes put on
and the door to your room was gently closed
