Elvis for Aoife

from the ABC set The Foxes of Summer

Bob’s final act of love for Aoife was Elvis. In fact, the very last thing he ever did was Elvis. Who could have predicted that a run of the mill impression of the King would be the death of a man?

You couldn’t have predicted it. There have been many impersonations of Elvis Presley since the beginning of Elvis Presley, but the documented fatalities resulting from these impersonations are very few.

Bob didn’t think Elvis for Aoife would mark his end. If he had known, he may have done something else instead. He may have done Sinatra for Aoife, or John Wayne for Aoife, or Steptoe and Son for Aoife. But he had to go and pick Elvis, didn’t he? Big mistake, Bob!

At the funeral, Aoife thought to herself, ‘Fucking Elvis.’

It wasn't 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' by any chance? Bob always did have a strong streak of irony about him.

Aoife keeps telling me it was 'Return to Sender', but she's never been reliable musically.

Ah, and I was sure it was 'Suspicious Minds'.
