attack of the bi-polar bear

I wake up at noon
but only half-way,
it feels like soon
my hair will be gray

but I'm only 27
and though my body is beat,
I don't buy heaven
and don't yet lie in defeat

so I brew some coffee
and it tastes all-right,
I listen to some poetry
and I see the light

so then I get rolling
on this dream or that
and I roll without stopping
until I go splat

often that's how it used to be:
either inspired and free,
or deep-down soul weary
the disposition of a zombie

so these day I'm wary
when I see the fair form
of the wily bi-polar bear ;
He's strong as a train
can take you most anywhere,
but will leave you insane
cold, naked and bare

I still find gems of inspiration
in his wild-hearted lair,
but the rise of the sun
will not find me there

He's strong as a train
can take you most anywhere,
but will leave you insane
cold, naked and bare

I love the image of the "bi-polar bear", it reminds me of Churchill's "black dog" of depression.

I like this poem a lot, it puts into words feelings that to many are incomprehensible. Thank you for sharing, and as member of the "Black Dog" Clan I salute you.
