THE HALLUCINATION VERSION 2

I just had a night
full of dreams and visions:
often what distinctly seemed like voices
talking to me

In another sequence,
I was rushed through
a spectacular neon kaleidoscope
full of symbols and strange beasts,
all of which was amazing and rather pleasant,
though not entirely

Sometimes, I awoke
and looked around the dream,
where my belongings mixed the visions:
it was hard to tell
if I was asleep or awake
until morning brought
the persistent buzz of my alarm clock

But then,
having awoken completely
and taken a couple minutes
to assess where I was,

I became terrified
someone might get through my locked
door and kill me

Well, plain as day,
I heard the rustling of a key
and a naked blonde man walk in,
about thirty
(close-shaven with slightly longish hair
parted on the side):
he was frowning but there
was something peaceful in his eyes;
paying me little mind
he walked into my bathroom

I got up to deal with the situation
in one way or another,
and looked into the bathroom
but saw only thin air;
I triple locked my door
and after a few minutes,
somehow was not that shaken

I can't remember any
of the things that were said last night
by the voices in my dreams,
only their somewhat disturbing essence

I'm still, of course,
an atheist
(this happened say twenty minutes ago,)
followed by an unusually quick return
to normal reality and calmness

I've been through it all before:
though only rarely lately.
life goes on.
I'll tell my doctor;
maybe we'll adjust my meds

Now, I'll read The New York Times
and see what craziness is afoot
in the real world;
It'll make me feel more sane
and a little more educated, too

When I run into a friend at the coffee-house,
we can discuss the new book about Tibetan monks,
the war in Afghanistan,
or what should be done about the economy

Unless he's one of a close handful,
I won't tell him
about the voices,
or the blonde man
with his frown,
his stubble,
and his peaceful sky blue eyes

No, I'll tell him about
how good the lox sandwich is here,
and the fantastic vegetable cream-cheese:
not everyone needs to know everything

Better than the first because you tell us the context and how you hide what you saw (or didn't see).
